A day outing in Pondicherry

My dear travellers,

Here is a blog for one day trip to Pondicherry from Chennai.
I stayed at my sister's house in chennai. So, I would not go much into details of chennai trip as my old blog details still holds good. Oh by the way, road from SriPerumbudur to Chennai (while coming from bangalore) is pretty bad and slows you down.

About Pondicherry :

Pondicherry is totally influenced by "Sri Aurobindo". This is my first impression of this beautiful place. So make sure you read about him before you visit his ashram or auroville.

"Pondy" in short, is a quite a pleasant place. One day is more than enough to visit all the places unless you want to stay in a beach resort and relax for a weekend.

Some of the key places to visit
1. Sri Aurobindo ashram
2. French colony buildings
3. Auroville
4. Seafront Promenade
5. Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Temple
6. Churches
7. Paradise beach

I was not keen on visiting beaches or temple or churches. So my visited places includes 1 - 4. I have posted photos of the same and will add more details if time permits.

Must visit place of all these is Auroville and evening walk at Seafront Promenade. The road will be closed in the evening for traffic everyday and you can walk in this 1 km stretch road. Really beautiful.

Tips:
Except for paradise beach, Pondy does not have any beach where you can get into water and play.
Chennai to Pondy route : via Grand Southern Trunk Rd/Nagapattinam-Chennai Hwy/NH45
Pondy to Chennai : via East Coast road (Returned home in the evening. So not able to catch glimpse of beach)
Food : A2B near Sri Aurobindo ashram. Clean and good food (Vegetarian only).

Distance around : 180 KMS with good road

Happy travelling
